We arrived in Mt Rainier NP soon enough to hike on what we call "Sylvi's Trail." Long story, so think of this at the Naches Peak Loop, near Chinook Pass.

A small lake to the south of the Pass. This is really in the William O Douglas Wilderness, just outside the Park.

THEN you round the corner, and there is The Mountain.

Lest you think we had a lot of solitude, this is Saturday in the most popular part of the Park. We saw at least 150 other hikers. Some folks (from British Columbia) even asked us at lunch WHICH mountain was this. Go figure......

Next morning, the weather forecast was not very good, but we thought we would drive to Sunrise and hike before the rain set in. Well, it is 9:30 or so, and things are looking good.

Looking down on the White River. Someone might call it the Muddy River. When we saw it later in the day, it was the color of a latte.

This was the view. Note the Emmons Glacier has receded a mile or two.

Shadow Lake. We returned to our vehicle and headed back down the mountain for showers and a cold beverage.
