We left Bozeman on a Saturday morning, and headed SW, eventually arriving in Mountain Home, ID. It was very very warm that day. The temperature inside the trailer got to 89 before it clouded up. Thankfully, we grilled burgers for dinner, so such did not heat up the trailer.

The drive was long, but we still got to Collier Memorial State Park in southern Oregon by 3 pm local time. Time for a nice long exercise walk.

The view from the Watchman area looks down on Wizard Island. Pretty neat.

The drive from Collier State Park to the Mazama Village Campground in Crater Lake took maybe an hour. The weather was very good, and Crater Lake is all about the scenery. So you hike when the weather is good. In this case, we hiked a mile or so to Discovery Point, walked back, and then headed to the Watchman overlook area.

We climbed up to the Watchman Tower, along with dozens of our closest friends. But it was just fine. More climbing, more exercise and a pretty view.

Back at camp. You can't reserve a particular campsite, just a length of campsite. Well, we must of been 5 inches over the limit for the next size down, so got the giant economy size pull thru. It was fine. Plenty of room and nice shade.

Next morning, we drove part of the way around the rim to todays hike, the summit of Mt Scott, highest point in Crater Lake. Below is the Phantom Ship.

A view from a viewpoint further along the rim of the lake. It is hard to imagine that the eruption of Mt. Mazama occurred only 7700 years ago, a mere blink of the eye, geologically speaking.

OK, we are on the trail to the summit of Mt. Scott. The route is about 2.5 miles to the summit, and gains 1250 feet. It is considered a "strenuous" hike. We considered it moderate. The summit is the highest point on the ridge ahead of Susie.

Several folks showed up or were already there, so we chatted a while. We ultimately decided to have lunch after we had descended a bit. More privacy.

Returning to the parking at the trail head, we continued along the rim drive. The high point in the photo is where we had just been.
