When our good friend Sarah took a similar trip with Linblad/National Geographic, it just whetted our appetite even more.   • October 22nd:  Every story has a beginning, and we are beginning this one after flying about 6900 miles from Bozeman to Buenos Aires, Argentina.  Yes, there is a McDonald's in the airport, but right now, I am calling the Airport Holiday inn to see when they can pick us up and take us to our room.  it has been about 27 hours since we left our house.

    October 22nd: Every story has a beginning, and we are beginning this one after flying about 6900 miles from Bozeman to Buenos Aires, Argentina. Yes, there is a McDonald's in the airport, but right now, I am calling the Airport Holiday inn to see when they can pick us up and take us to our room. it has been about 27 hours since we left our house.

  • After checking in at 10:30 am, a few quick photos of the view of the city, and then a nice nap.  Way better sleeping than on the airplane.

  • October 23rd:  The next morning, we shuttled back to the airport, met up with the Linblad/National Geographic folks and got ready to ride into the City.

  • We were able to check into our room at our hotel at 9:30 am.  Unheard of in the US.  One of the views from our windows.

  • In the early afternoon, we headed out for a half-day tour of some of the more interesting places in Buenos Aires.  Here, we are walking over to the famous cemetary in the Recoleto district of the city.

  • Here the tour guide is explaining something about the above ground tombs.  We had been here at the end of our Patagonia trip in 2015 ( https://twohikers.smugmug.com/International-Other-Continents/Patagonia-2015-Argentina/i-JGx6RJR/A ) but was worth a second look, especially with a guide.

  • Back at the hotel, we had an orientation to tomorrow's activities.  But after all the food this day, we opted for a very modest dinner.  I had a burger and Susie focused on dessert.  She made the right choice. We had to be back to the room soon, because our checked luggage had to be packed and outside our room by 11 pm.

  • October 24th:  The next morning, we have been up since 4:45 am, showered and had an early breakfast. We were shuttled over to the domestic airport and are awaiting our chartered flight to Ushuaia, nearly 1500 miles to the south.  Here, Roger is discussing something with Mary Sue, one of the other trip clients.

  • We have landed in Ushuaia.  The airport reminds us of Bozeman's airport.  Lots of wooden beams.
