The route starts with a sharp descent from the trailhead. Not everyone makes it successfully. But Carolyn is skiing over to help Donna.
We skied over blue ice, a result of ice jams on the upper Gallatin RIver. After the open first 1/3 mile, the route goes into the trees. Left to right are Donna, Susie, Patti (who joined us on this day), Carolyn, and Scotty.
Patti is smiling because she is skiing thru freshly falling snow.
While the route appears flat, it gains about 500 feet over 3.7 miles. Here Susie and Donna are climbing up a couple of small hills.
A view thru falling snow up the valley of Fan Creek.
Donna and Susie. The reason why I get peoples' backs alot is because I am usually in the rear, taking pictures.
We are strung out a bit.
Starting to look for a lunch spot. Photo by Susie, because Roger (in the rear) has finally caught up.
A great lunch log: Donna, Patti, Carolyn, Scotty, and Roger.
Here come Donna and Scotty.
After 3/4 of a mile of skiing after lunch, the wind and snow picked up, so we decided to turn around. But Patti is still smiling.
We utilized a couple of hills to ski down thru some fresh powder.
