There is not much doubt with this photo of where we are. Since it had been a short drive over from Escalante, we decided to see some sights on the south end of the scenic drive, and take a short walk.

From Rainbow Point, one can look out to the east and see the canyons of Bull Valley Gorge and the Upper Paria River.

This looks to be Mollies Nipple (yeah, that is how it is spelled on the topo maps) about 17 miles to the southeast.

We took a walk on the Bristlecone Pine trail. The Bristlecones were not as photogenic as they are in Great Basin National Park, but still nice to see them

No Photoshopping of the color here. That is the way it was.

Another Bristlecone.

The next morning, before our hike, Susie insisted that we get up before sunrise so that we could make it out to Sunrise Point for some good photo opportunities. Hard to go wrong with the lighting. We only shot about 60 photos between the two of us this morning. It is hard to get beyond the days of film cameras.....

Alright, time to get started with the Peekaboo Loop trail. The entire route is about 8 miles, and climbs and drops and climbs over and over.

Note the number of folks heading up or down the trail on the right.

So we got down and now it is time to climb.

The changing slope and exposure to the wind had us constantly changing attire.

Back at our campsite, there was enough of a breeze that it was nice to have the opportunity to eat inside.

The next day, we decided to do the so-called Fairyland Loop hike. It is about 8.5 miles. We started hiking from our campsite along the rim. It was breezy and cold. I counted and I think I was wearing 6 layers this morning. Temp was 29 with a stiff wind.
